Volunteer

We value and recognize that volunteers enhance the learning experiences of our students and strengthen school and community partnerships. Volunteering is an opportunity to model and promote the value of developing positive relationships as caring and contributing citizens within our community.

Schools welcome parents, guardians and community members as volunteers who support the life of the school (such as field trips, food programs, school council, reading programs etc).

Please carefully review the following information to ensure that you meet the requirements to become an Oxbow PS volunteer.

All volunteers are required to obtain a Criminal Record Check which includes a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).  Once a completed background check is on file at the school, subsequent years require the completion of a TVDSB “Offence Declaration”.  Please review the following scenarios and follow through with the ONE that applies to your situation as soon as possible:

  • If you completed a Vulnerable Sector Check LAST school year and it is on file at the school, please complete and return the Offence Declaration form for the 2023-2024 school year. (see link below)
  • If you completed an Offence Declaration LAST school year and it is on file along with your Vulnerable Sector Check at the school, please complete and return the Offence Declaration form for the 2023-2024 school year. (see link below)
  • If you did not complete an Offence Declaration LAST school year, please apply online with the OPP for a Volunteer Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and once complete, submit it to the school.  The link to the required Criminal Background Check Volunteer Application Form to include with your online application is below.  In subsequent years, you will only be required to complete a TVDSB Offence Declaration form.
  • If you are new to volunteering at Oxbow Public School, please apply online with the OPP for a Volunteer Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and once complete, submit it to the school.  The link for the required Criminal Background Check Volunteer Application Form to include with your application is found below.  In subsequent years, you will only be required to complete a TVDSB Offence Declaration form.

Mandatory Volunteer Training: All volunteers must watch the Accessibility within Thames Valley training video before volunteering at one of our schools.
